Introduction

PlanetCast ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the PlanetCast mobile application, how that information is used, and your rights regarding that information.

This policy applies globally. Additional rights and disclosures for users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom are described in the European Users section below.

Information We Collect

Information Collected Automatically

PlanetCast does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our own servers. The only third-party network request the app makes is to fetch live weather data:

• Approximate IP address. When the app fetches live weather data from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), your device's IP address is transmitted as part of the standard HTTP request. Open-Meteo does not require an account and does not store personally identifiable information. See open-meteo.com/en/terms for their terms.

Information You Provide

PlanetCast has no accounts, sign-up forms, or user-generated content. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, or any other information you type or enter.

App Settings

Preferences such as temperature unit and motion settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to any server.

Advertising

PlanetCast uses Google AdMob to show rewarded video ads. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, and related device information to deliver and measure ads. Where required, Google's consent form is shown before the Mobile Ads SDK is initialized or any ad is requested.

If you decline personalized advertising, eligible ad requests use the consent choices recorded by Google, including non-personalized or limited ads where available. You may revisit your choices using Privacy Choices in the app.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

PlanetCast is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at planetcast@sector1holdings.com and we will take steps to delete that information.

European Users (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, the following applies to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR.

Legal basis for processing

We process data based on your consent for ad personalization and legitimate interests for app functionality, security, and analytics.

Your rights

• Right of access — request confirmation of whether we process personal data about you.
• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure — request deletion of personal data we hold about you.
• Right to restriction of processing — request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.
• Right to data portability — receive personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based.

Data retention

We retain data only as long as necessary to provide app functionality and comply with legal obligations. Local preferences remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app.

Advertising partners

We use Google AdMob to serve ads. Google may collect device identifiers, including your advertising identifier where permitted, for ad delivery and measurement. You can manage or withdraw consent using Privacy Choices in the app.

International transfers

Data may be processed outside the EEA or UK, including in the United States, using appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

• Right to know — what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell.
• Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing — PlanetCast does not sell or share your personal information.
• Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate for exercising CCPA rights.
• Right to correct inaccurate information — request correction of inaccurate personal information.

Data Retention

PlanetCast does not retain personal data on its own servers. Your local app settings are stored on your device until you uninstall the app.

Third-Party Services

• Open-Meteo — live Earth weather data: open-meteo.com/en/terms
• Google AdMob — rewarded advertising, consent management, ad delivery, fraud prevention, and performance measurement.
• NASA / ESA / NOAA public datasets — planetary science data (no personal data involved; public-domain reference datasets).

Security

All network requests made by PlanetCast use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Because we do not operate servers that store personal data, the attack surface for a data breach is minimal.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
